Cardinal Mooney to face Clinton-Massie in D-IV title game

Cardinal Mooney will be seeking its ninth state championship in school history Friday at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon as the Cardinals face defending Division IV state champion Clinton-Massie, starting at 3 p.m.

The Cardinals (10-4) handled Steubenville in last Friday's Division IV state semifinal in Canton. Mooney's toughest game so far in the postseason was in the regional final, a come-from-behind win against Cleveland Benedictine.

The Cardinals beat John Hay (45-20), Struthers (42-14), Benedictine (28-21) and Steubenville (37-7) en route to Friday's state title game.

As for Clinton-Massie High School, it is located off of I-71 - between Washington Court House and Cincinnati.

The Falcons (13-1) have won nine straight since losing at St. Francis DeSales in Week 5, 21-16.

Clinton-Massie rallied from a two-touchdown deficit to beat top-ranked Kenton in Friday's other state semifinal, 21-20.
