Dayne Hammond wanted to play football for Warren G. Harding High School this fall.
But the Ohio High School Athletic Association said, as of now, that won't happen.
Hammond is a 6-foot-6 senior receiver and defensive back. He had 689 receiving yards, seven touchdowns and three interceptions for Boardman last season.

Transfer to WGH nixed by OHSAA
According to an email reply from OHSAA information director Tim Stried, "The administrators at Harding and Boardman have been working with OHSAA Associate Commissioner Debbie Moore on this issue and were advised that based on the information made available to the OHSAA thus far, the transfer would not meet one of the 12 exceptions."
WGH coach Rick Rios said paperwork has not been sent to the state yet for Hammond's transfer.
Stried added he is "not aware if the family has actually submitted the official request."
Hammond was asked via a Facebook message on Saturday, after a television report stated the transfer was denied, why he wanted to transfer to Harding and he replied that it was for "personal reasons."
He also was asked if he was going back to Boardman. Hammond declined to comment.
Boardman coach Mark D'Eramo was asked Saturday if Hammond could come back to play for the Spartans this season. D'Eramo couldn't say either way since Hammond enrolled at WGH last week.
According to the OHSAA, Hammond is free to return to Boardman.
"Based on the current information we have, Hammond could still play at Boardman this season, but it would be up to the school to decide if they would allow him back on the team," Stried said.
