![]() Extra PointsIt doesn't feel like Browns-Steelers weekIt just doesn't anymore, and that's sad to admit. Some of it has to do with the three years lost when the old Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens. The so-called new Browns are in their 11th season since the franchise returned to the NFL, which should have been more than enough time to build a foundation and become a competitive team. Several times over, in fact. But they just aren't competitive. Do you realize the Steelers are 18-3 against the Browns since 1999? A few of the defeats have been close, but Cleveland has not beaten the team that once was its biggest rival since 2003. That futility, more than anything else, is the reason the rivalry doesn't have the same feel. Is it really a rivalry if one team wins all the time? And as Mike McLain points out on his Tribune Chronicle Browns blog, all that losing and the inevitable changing of the guard when it comes to players and coaches has left Cleveland with a locker room full of guys who can't relate to what the game used to mean, and stll does, to some fans. I'm not sure the rivalry can ever truly return to its past glory, but it certainly never will if the Browns don't find a way to turn things around and beat the Steelers once in a while. I've attached some photos of some of the players I associate with the glory days of the Browns-Steelers rivalry. Maybe our readers have some others in mind.
