Extra Points

Tough poll to swallow

Terrelle Pryor looked better and Ohio State's defense continued to play well as the Buckeyes put away Toledo on Saturday at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The final was 38-0.

So how many points would Ohio State have had to put up against Toledo to maintain its No. 11 ranking in the Associated Press poll?

We'll never know. The Buckeyes slipped to No. 13 in the latest poll, released Monday. Southern Cal, which lost to unranked Washington, dropped from No. 3 to No. 12. You didn't think the Trojans would fall below Ohio State, did you?

I said after USC's 18-15 victory in Columbus that this Pete Carroll team wouldn't go unbeaten. Now it looks like the Trojans are capable of losing twice or more before the regular season is complete. They're just not that good.

Even after Ohio State lost to USC, I mentioned that a case could be made the Buckeyes were the better team. That's looking even more true now.
