Fujita put on IR

October 25, 2012 - Mike McLain
BEREA -- Browns linebacker Scott Fujita was placed on injured-reserve Wednesday, which could signal the end of his 11-year career. Fujita reportedly has a neck injury. He also missed time earlier in the season with a knee injury.

It's been an emotional year for Fujita, who was among the players suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for his reported role in the New Orleans Saints' bounty scandal. The three-game suspension was recently reduced to one game. Fujita has been appealing the suspension.

Fujita appeared in four games after missing the opener. He had 14 tackles and one sack.

Rookie James-Michaerl Johnson started the last two games on the strong side in place of Fujita.

In other injury news, defensive tackle Phil Taylor practiced for the first time this season. Taylor is on the physically-unable-to-perform list as he recovers from surgery in May to repair a torn pectoral.

Coach Pat Shurmur said the chances of Taylor playing Sunday against the San Diego Chargers are "low." The Browns have two more weeks to decide if they want to activate Taylor or place him on IR.
