Are you ready for some football?

August 15, 2011 - Ed Puskas
Silly question. It's the middle of August and you live in northeastern Ohio. Of course, you're ready for high school football. We are, too. In fact, the Tribune Chronicle sports staff has just completed the annual labor of love known as our high school football preview magazine. Weeks of planning and legwork go into the annual project, in which we take an up-close look at 34 area teams. We've hit two-a-day workouts in five counties to gather the latest and most in-depth information about your favorite teams, players and coaches.

We've compiled all that information in a 120-page, full-color glossy magazine format no other area media outlet offers. And we're about to offer it to you at a special rate during a special preseason event. More on that shortly.

As is usually the case, there is a lot to cover when it comes to previewing the 2011 season, from new coaches at Warren G. Harding and John F. Kennedy, another scheduled grudge match between the Raiders and the Howland Tigers, the first season in two decades that Tony Napolet won't be on the JFK sideline, the preseason All-Tribune Chronicle team and Ursuline's quest for a fourth consecutive state championship.

Your first chance to get a look at the area's best and most thorough high school football preview comes on Thursday, Aug. 18, when it will be available during a special live remote sponsored by the Tribune Chronicle and WBBW ESPN 1240-AM. Ryan Alessio and Christian Aleshire, of the Ryan and Christian Show, will broadcast live from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. from Panera Bread on Elm Road. Your Tribune Chronicle sports staff will be on hand to talk high school football with the hosts and perhaps answer your questions about the upcoming season.

And, of course, prep football fans can pick up copies of the Tribune Chronicle preview at Panera Bread for the special price of $3.95, which is $1 off the regular newstand price. The information and the value combine to make it a must-have publication for anyone who follows high school football.

Check back here and in the pages of the Tribune Chronicle for more information about Thursday's live remote. And, of course, tune into WBBW ESPN 1240-AM.
